Living Braybrook: Affordable Housing for Keyworkers

The very first studio of Monash's Master of Urban Planning & Design Compact City asked students to develop an affordable housing strategy in the suburb of Braybrook, situated in Melbourne's west between Footscray and Sunshine.

This strategy identified key worker housing a a tool to provide community value from private development, requiring a portion of housing units to be provided at a discount. Pairing this with Plan Melbourne's 20-Minute Neighbourhood concept, the development was to be located above the Churchill Avenue shops opposite the Community Hub, to maximise walkability for new residents.
